December 2, 2000 indiamarkets launches e-enterprise package indiamarkets, the country's premier B2B site has launched an `e-enterprise package,' a web-enabled business solution that will help manufacturers buy and sell more effectively. The package, through its chain of ebusiness centers located in strategic business areas, integrates e-commerce and ground commerce, something that has not been witnessed in this segment earlier. “For instance, if there is a glass-manufacturing here and there are three vendors in Baroda, and another packaging centre in Hyderabad. We get them together through this platform and educate them on how to start quoting, corresponding etc. That is one of our biggest offerings unique to us,” says K.Ramesh, Vice President (Brand) of the company. The package's uniqueness lies in the fact that it is simple, practical and workable. It harnesses the net for processes such as documentation, bidding and communication and also enables training, development, enablement certifications and order fulfillment onground through the e-business centres. indiamarkets, also offers separate components of the package which will fit the requirements of its clients. “From a solution perspective, there is a necessity to train and develop the vendor base to facilitate proper use of the product. This is where our e-centres come in,” says D Sriram, Vice President, Sales. According to him indiamarkets.com believes in the principle of the three I's- information, intermediation and insight. The company also covers a huge total of 28 industry categories. Suppliers under these categories are also divided into a further 140 sub-categories. Buyers from such diverse industries as pharmaceuticals, automobile components, chemicals and textiles can source their requirements through the site. Other benefits include the `Surplus Inventory' section that enables manufacturers to liquidate their old stocks, the `Used Machinery' section can be accessed by manufacturers to buy old machinery at bargain prices. Apart from providing services to buyers and sellers, the portal also brings together potential traders. In sections such as `Contract Manufacturing' and `Business Alliance,' businesses can locate partners for contract manufacturing, joint ventures etc. The company's biggest asset is the creation of infrastructure to e-enable the manufacturing industries across the country. The eBusiness centers, which number 70 by the end of the year, will introduce manufacturers to the benefits of e-business. These facilities will include workstations,
discussion rooms, conferencing and training facilities by handpicked personnel.
The eBusiness centres can also be used by other corporates as a platform
to showcase their software and hardware products.
