July 25, 2000 - Business Standard Govt policy within three months to e-nable small scale industries Union minister of small scale, agro and rural industries Vasundhara Raje has said that her ministry would be coming up with a policy specifically aimed at promoting use of information technology among the small-scale industrial sector, in the next three months. Vasundhara Raje was speaking at the inaugural function of indiamarkets.com’s launch of nationwide network of e-business centers aimed at e-enabling the operations of small-scale industries. indiamarkets’ e-business centers to be set up at 70 industrial locations of non-metro cities with an investment of $10 million, would train and familiarize industrial units in doing business on the internet. “Given the current low penetration of internet delivery channels indiamarkets felt the need to proactively drive the e-business revolution in the country’s industrial hubs. The small and medium enterprise would be among the main beneficiaries of these centers since now they will have access to e-business at their doorstep, without even owning a computer,” said Rohan Ajila, managing director, IMO communications. indiamarkets’ centres would assist
members in sourcing suppliers, identifying alliance partners and finding
new business opportunity.
