Professor Sadagopan is the Director of the recently established Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore.

Earlier he had taught at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore for four years and at the the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur for 15 years. Sadagopan did his Master’s and Doctoral work at Purdue University, USA.

His research interests include multimedia, enterprise computing, networking and operations research. He has published extensively in IEEE Transactions, DSS Journal, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, Simulation, Naval Research Logistics, etc. He has authored a book on Management Information Systems published by Prentice Hall and edited a book on ERP published by Tata McGraw Hill. His book on Multimedia is expected soon.

He is Member of the IEEE Computer Society, ACM and a Fellow of the OR Society of India and the Institution of Engineers. He represents India in the TC9 Sub-Committee of IFIP (International Federation of Information Processing Society) for the period 1998-2001.

Sadagopan has travelled widely across all the continents and visited or taught at MIT, Purdue University, RUTGERS-The State University of New Jersey, University of Delaware, IIT-Madras, Nijenrode University of Netherlands, Ringling School of Art & Design, Sarasota, Florida, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology of Australia, AIT-Bangkok, MDI-Gurgaon, IIM-Lucknow and TAPMI-Manipal. He is listed in the Marquis “Who’s Who in the World”. He serves on the board of some eminent universities, management institutes and corporations.

Sadagopan has a wide consulting experience in India and abroad including his assignments with some of the largest private sector and public sector undertakings in India in the automobile, oil, electronics and services sectors.

At IIM-Bangalore, Professor Sadagopan was the chairperson of the Computing Facilities & Services. He was the coordinator of the Microsoft funded University Advanced Technology Lab, SAP/Intel/Compaq funded ERP Studies Centre and the Compaq funded Multimedia Executive Education Centre.

Sadagopan is a Fulbright Scholar and a Certified SAP Consultant. He has been invited for SAPPHIRE 98 Conference in Melbourne, Australia, BaaN World Conference in Denver, USA, Ramco Marshal Conference in Chennai and BaaN University Synergy Program in Putten, Netherlands. He frequently lectures on ERP related conferences and writes ERP, e-commerce, e-business related issues in the columns of indiamarkets.com, Economic Times, CIO, Computers Today, Dataquest and Express Computers.
